Right after I graduated from Ryerson University, I landed my first job at a PR firm on Bay Street in downtown Toronto. I moved from my student apartment into a more grown-up space, right in the heart of the city on Charles Street, around Bay and Bloor. My new home was across the street from the Manulife Centre and it quickly became my go-to destination for everything. I have so many memories of my time there. There were many dinner-and-a-movie dates with my then boyfriend, countless hours spent browsing Indigo with a cuppa tea from Starbucks, and we even celebrated my sister’s engagement at the Bloor Street Diner, all of our friends descending upon the establishment to surprise the happy couple and celebrate the night away!
That was years ago and despite moving out of the area, I still visit at least once a month, not just because of the nostalgia I feel when I’m there but because it’s the perfect one-stop shopping destination.
