Going on a safari? I just got home from a Micato safari to Kenya and Tanzania and it was by far one of the most memorable experiences of my life! If you’re going on a safari or just thinking about it, check out these suggestions for what to wear on safari. And below, I’ve rounded up 7 great finds to pack in your suitcase!

safari-chic-feature37 THINGS TO PACK FOR A SAFARI

Tie-Front Short, $62, Banana Republic
A great pair of shorts is perfect for hot days. This pair in khaki is made from a linen-cotton blend, making them lightweight and easy to wear.

Women’s GeoTrek’r™ Dress, $80, ExOfficio
This olive green dress from ExOfficio is a perfect combination of chic and functional. It’s made from a breathable, wicking fabric and has a mesh lined back, all to keep you cool. But what I love most is its feminine cut and flattering fit. It’s a great option for wearing around camp during the day.

‘Tracker’ Bucket Hat, $50, Nordstrom
Don’t leave home without a safari hat! This olive coloured bucket hat is perfect in the bush. It’s got a built-in sweatband and a removable chin strap.

Toria Moccasin-Toe Chukka Boot, $135, Oliberte
I wish I’d had a pair of these for my safari! First and foremost, I love that these boots are made in Ethiopia. It seems perfectly appropriate to support African communities when you’re going on an African safari. These full-grain leather boots are handstitched at the front and back, have a vegetable-tanned leather midsole and a natural crepe rubber sole.

Ralph Lauren Black Label Stretch Cargo Pant, $358, Bergdorf Goodman
You can find lightweight khakis and cargo pants pretty much anywhere. This pair is seriously overpriced but super stylish – if you’re so inclined!

Travel Vest, $125, ScotteVest
A ScotteVest vest is the perfect safari accessory. It’s got 17 pockets (yes, 17!) for carrying everything you need while you’re out for the day. It’s lightweight and breathable with a mesh lining and has a slim and flattering cut.

Heritage Striped Linen-Cotton Scarf, $46, Banana Republic
A scarf is a safari must. You’ll need one for early morning and evening game drives to keep you warm. But because it can get dusty out in the bush, a scarf is handy for wiping things down, especially your camera lens.

Thanks for this list. I’m making a packing list for my own safari trip, and I have a lot of clothes and accessories that I think will work, but I’m also trying to figure out what items should be specifically for safaris. The travel vest in particular has caught me eye.

This looks like a great list to choose from. I
