lauren-conniThey say there’s no such thing as cold weather, just inappropriate clothing. Us Canadians, we totally get that. When the temperatures dip below zero, we know that we need to haul out our extreme winter gear in order to get through the season. Because we don’t let a little cold weather slow us down!

To welcome winter’s imminent arrival, I decided to have a little Welcome to Winter outdoor party with my friends Lauren and Conni. And since Kombi Canada sent us some winter gear to test drive, we were ready to face the elements.

We started our day at Dineen Coffee Company at the corner of Yonge and Temperance streets in downtown Toronto and warmed up with lattes. Our leather mittens were the perfect cold weather accessory to keep our hands warm.

Lattes in hand, we strolled the streets of downtown Toronto, chatting and catching up and enjoying the sights and sounds of the city. Even on cold, grey days, Toronto is beautiful and full of delightful spots. We found a tree-lined courtyard, the trees’ bare branches adorned with pretty white fairy lights, and stopped a while. And since this tucked away spot is just outside the building where Suits is filmed, we may or may not have hung around hoping for a sighting of Gabriel Macht (swoon) and Patrick J. Adams!

Our next stop: Nathan Phillips Square at the corner of Queen and Bay streets, the heart of the city and a bustling urban plaza. The skating rink is in full swing and it’s the perfect spot to get out and enjoy the wonder of winter in Toronto.

toronto-signConni is originally from California and as she prepares for her first winter in Toronto, she definitely needed some winter gear. How cute is she in her fleece-lined knit headband?

mitts-skatesWhen you’re dressed appropriately for the weather, it’s not too cold for anything! Kombi Canada’s mission is to provide the gear you need to encourage Canadians to get outside, enjoy the winter and make memories to last a lifetime.

conni-skatesAll dressed up and ready to take a spin on the ice!

nathan-phillips-squareOur winter party was such a fun opportunity to get outside, connect with friends and share lattes and laughs. There’s nothing like a brisk winter day to really make you feel alive. So if the cold weather makes you want to stay inside and hibernate, think again. Just dress warm and embrace the cold and get out there and do things you might not normally do. Trust me: You’ll have fun making winter memories with the people you love.

Special thanks to Lauren of This Renegade Love and Conni of Art in the Find for their help taking photos!
