I had a feeling that I would love San Diego long before I’d even visited. I just knew that this city in Southern California would be beautiful, easy to navigate and full of things to do. And, after a recent visit, I discovered that I was right! With an unbeatable location, amazing weather and exceptionally friendly people, San Diego is the perfect vacation destination. If you’re planning to visit San Diego, here’s a list of suggested things to pack:
What to pack for San Diego
1 L’Oreal Sublime Sun Face Lotion, SPF 50 | $10.99 | Drugstore.com
You can pretty much count on sun when you’re in San Diego so don’t forget to pack sunscreen. Especially if you decide to take in a Padres game at Petco Park, like I did!
2 Striped Colorblock Sweater | 69.50 | Banana Republic
Despite the typically warm and pleasant weather, the evenings in San Diego can get a bit chilly. Make sure you’ve got a sweater on hand to keep warm. Much like San Francisco, it’s best to dress in layers so you can adapt to changing weather throughout the day.
3 Sleeveless Lace Dress | $430 | Nordstrom
Pack a nice dress for a great dinner out. Need restaurant recommendations? I suggest Nobu at the Hard Rock Hotel and Bice, an elegant Italian restaurant at the corner of Island Avenue and 4th Avenue. The food is delectably authentic – close your eyes and you’ll think you’re in Italy.
4 Tieks, Ballerina Pink | $165 | Tieks
Whether you’re strolling around the Gaslamp Quarter or the Old Town, or going to SeaWorld or the San Diego Zoo, comfy shoes are a must for full days on your feet. Tieks are my favourite option – not just for being stylish and comfortable but because they’re so flexible, you can fold them in half and stow them in your bag with ease. They’ll take up no room at all – an important thing to consider when choosing shoes to travel with, since shoes typically take up more than their fair share of suitcase space.
5 Mini-Pineapple Underwire Tank | $110 | J Crew
A cute one-piece bathing suit is perfect for laying on the beach or soaking up some sun at your hotel pool. This suit is made with a quick-drying fabric, which is ideal when you’re traveling and don’t have a lot of time to wait for your bathing suit to dry. And the mini pineapple pattern is adorable, don’t you agree?
6 Wool Gauze Skip A Beat Scarf | $44.99 | C Wonder
Never leave home without a scarf! This multi-purpose item will come in handy on the plane and on chilly evenings to keep you warm.
7 Cyber-shot Digital Camera H200 | $199.99 | Sony
From the beaches and historic Old Town to the many attractions that surround San Diego, you’re going to need a camera wherever you go. This 20 megapixel camera has a 360° Sweep Panorama mode, which will help you truly capture the lush landscape of San Diego.
